Convenience
A built in microwave oven combination can save space on kitchen counters and give a stylish design to your space. Because it functions as a microwave and traditional oven, you can heat up leftovers, frozen meals and meals that are pre-packaged in one appliance. It also eliminates the requirement for an additional countertop appliance or large wall ovens that are stand-alone. A combination microwave oven can be a great option when you are looking to improve your kitchen without having to undergo any major renovations.
Microwave oven combos are available in different styles to fit your kitchen decor. Some come with a swing-out right-to-left door, while others have a drop-down design that opens in the same manner as an ordinary oven. You can also get an oven and microwave that opens in a drawer, similar to cabinets. Microwave drawers are easy to reach and are perfect for smaller spaces where you want to minimize the use of counter space.
Combination microwaves also come with various features to assist in making meal preparation easier and more efficient. Some models have the option of a sensor steam mode that adjusts the temperature and time of your food automatically to ensure you get perfectly steamed vegetables and fish. Other features include a broil element that allows you to quickly melt cheese or brown your favorite dish, as well as Crispwave(tm) technology that lets you grill, bake and crisp foods.
When selecting a microwave oven combination, you should think about how often you'll be using each function. If you'll use the oven component of your combo more than the microwave, you may be better off using an oven with two walls instead. A combo oven is smaller in capacity than a standalone oven.
After you've picked the ideal microwave and oven combination that meets your needs, it's time to think about how you will install it. Over-the-range models are mounted over the stove or cooktop and connect to an electrical outlet, while built-in microwaves are inserted directly into cabinets or walls of your kitchen. Certain models have trim kits that match your new microwave to your cabinets.
Energy Efficiency
A built in microwave oven combo is a great space saving option for those who have smaller kitchens, regardless of whether they are in a house or an apartment. They can help to save on cabinet space that would otherwise be occupied by two separate appliances. Additionally, they can also help reduce energy usage. They are more energy efficient than traditional wall ovens and provide a more efficient way to cook. They can also be used to cook food and warm food items. This reduces the necessity for other appliances such as toasters or warming plates.
DOE conducts a variety of analyses when evaluating potential amendments to energy conservation standards. These include technology and market assessments, screening analyses, engineering analyses and national impact analysis (NIA). In this SNOPR DOE will utilize its engineering analysis of microwave ovens to determine what level of efficiency improvements are feasible for this product type.
DOE will assess the microwave's design to the energy performance goals set in the engineering analysis. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.
As part of the NIA, DOE will evaluate the impact on consumers of every product category including lifecycle cost savings, and simple payback time ("PBP"). DOE will utilize the Government Regulatory Impact Model, with an adaptation for ovens that can be microwaved, to calculate the industry net present value (NPV).
Manufacturer impacts will be evaluated as well as the impact on manufacturers will be evaluated. DOE will use a modified version of its Industry Cash Flow model adapted for this type of product to estimate manufacturing NPV. integrated microwave will also consider the effects of these proposals on small businesses as well as other subgroups of manufacturers to identify those that may be disproportionately affected.

Additionally, DOE will consider whether the test procedures for microwave ovens must be updated to include active mode energy use as well as an integrated active mode energy use measurement. Currently, the test protocols only deal with the use of standby mode power.
Design
Wall ovens depend on the circulation of hot air evenly while microwaves make use of waves to cause water molecules in food to vibrate and produce heat. Combination wall units combine both appliances into one unit, reducing space in the kitchen and offering a sleek modern aesthetic. It is important to take into consideration your budget and goals before deciding on a combination wall oven. Several of the combination wall ovens we have rated have issues with performance or design.
